Welcome to The Dimock Center. Dimock has a 145-year history of caring for Boston community residents. Founded in 1862 as the New England Hospital for Women and Children by women physicians, the hospital offered women medical care of the highest quality and excellent clinical and professional training. This commitment to service and education for both patients and providers remains strong at Dimock
Dimock provides programs and services that are all carefully designed, monitored and integrated to meet an individual or family’s health and human service needs. This model for care has attracted new and innovative programs to our campus and has been widely replicated locally and nationally. Today, one-stop shopping is widely accepted as one of the most effective ways of delivering services in urban communities.
Our medical team and social services deliver programs in three main areas, each of which addresses a unique set of needs in the community.
Health and Community Care: Programs consist of primary care and related services aimed at providing health maintenance, screenings, disease prevention and management including: adult, pediatric and OB/GYN services; eye-care and dentistry; HIV counseling, testing, outreach, case management and education; women’s health services; free mammograms and menopause programs; specialty care in HIV medicine; infectious disease prevention and treatment; diabetes diagnosis and control programs; podiatry; orthopedics; and childhood asthma prevention and treatment.
Child and Family Services: Programs are geared toward the healthy development of children and families. They include: Pre-school, Early Headstart and Headstart development services; Early Intervention; Teen Center, adolescent peer leadership, Smart-Kids After-School and Tae Kwan Do programs; and the Mary Eliza Mahoney Transitional Housing program.
Behavioral Health Services: Programs provide substance abuse, mental health and developmental disability services including: intensive outreach for the severely and persistently mentally ill; individual and group counseling; psychiatry; child, family and school based treatment; residential recovery programs; and services for dually diagnosed women with HIV.
Dimock is a JCAHO accredited health facility for both Health Services and Behavioral Health Opiod Treatment. This accreditation means that we have been recognized for achieving national standards for quality and safety.
